Kerri Stone, RP

Picture
Kerri is a Registered Psychotherapist who has devoted her longstanding educational pursuits and professional career to the field of mental health. Having previously worked in a variety of clinical settings including accredited social services agencies, a family health team, and an inpatient hospital program, Kerri has had the opportunity to work with children, adolescents, parents, families, and adults navigating mental health difficulties. Kerri now maintains a private practice for the last few years. Kerri holds a Master's of Science (M.Sc.) degree in Pediatric Psychosocial Care with an undergraduate degree (B.A.) in Psychology.

Kerri's scope of practice includes the treatment of anxiety and anxiety-related disorders, depression, emotion regulation, trauma/traumatic stress, ADHD, OCD, family/relationship difficulties, and child development or adjustment concerns.

Her approach is eclectic and tailored to fit with the desired outcomes of the individual. She incorporates frameworks based on her training in CBT, DBT, Interpersonal Therapy, and attachment models. She has also attained additional training in perinatal mood and anxiety disorders and is approaching national certification in Trauma-Focused CBT.

Kerri demonstrates a natural ability when it comes to establishing rapport in the therapeutic relationship. She receives consistent feedback regarding her warm and welcoming demeanour and how this results in a sense of comfort and eased apprehension for clients entering the therapy process. Kerri is passionate about working from a strengths-based lens and assisting clients of all ages to discover and honour their own strengths and capabilities when facing obstacles. Kerri brings compassion and validation into the therapy room. She is committed to nurturing the therapeutic relationship while also challenging clients to pursue the goals that they set for themselves along their path toward wellness.

Kerri is also committed to her own self-reflection and development as a therapist and as a person. She enjoys continual learning and goal-setting for herself and values the opportunity to learn with and from her clients. She is grateful for this opportunity along her journey toward self-growth.

Kerri's compassionate nature also extends beyond the human-species. She spends much of her spare time, effort, and resources advocating for, helping, and housing a variety of underprivileged species from the animal kingdom.
