Your child may be struggling with sustaining friendships or relationships with peers; acting out or avoiding school; feeling as though they don’t fit in; feeling not heard and understood by others; or simply struggling to find positive mental health. Your family may be dealing with stressful and uncertain situations; struggling with past painful experiences. As a parent you might find that your child has become distant to you; expresses feelings of sadness and hopelessness; or acts out and becomes angry more easily. Parents can feel at a loss when trying to support a struggling child. As parents, all we want is for our child to feel happy and like themselves again.
At A Golden Thread Zoe is our therapist who works with children that are facing challenges such as low self-esteem, self-regulation, bullying, friendships and family relationships, transitions, separation and/or loss.
Once you decide you want to work with Zoe, send an email to email@example.com or click the book now button above. We will then send you information for booking, forms and a times for a telephone consultation if your family would like to speak with Zoe before starting. Your first meeting will be with just parents to discuss treatment, goals and lay out any all expectations for the therapy process. In the second meeting Zoe meets your child alone (depending on the age of the child). Zoe asks that parents be willing to meet every 6-8 sessions to discuss progress and what parents might do to support their child in therapy.
Zoe strives to build strong relationships with the children she works with. She works collaboratively with them to help them achieve their goals. She believes in the therapeutic power of creativity and playfulness in her practice and uses art therapy, play therapy and sand-tray to help her clients express themselves and find their own resolutions. During Covid-19 we get to be creative together about how to work over video. Zoe attends to your children’s needs and is able to meet them where they are, thereby, enhancing their awareness on what might be happening for them and helping them get more in touch with their feelings, thoughts and behaviour. She is committed to her client’s journey in therapy supporting them to build their capacity to see different perspectives, make the right choices for themselves, and enhance their relationships within the family, peers, school, community.
